RECEIVE Command ABEND B37 or IGD301I DATA SET ALLOCATION REQUEST FAILEDRecently, some users have experienced abend B37 when attempting to RECEIVE the 8A cumulative fixes. After selecting the MAINT command RECEIVE option, the popup below is displayed:
The abend is dependent on the unit type assigned to temporary data sets at the site, and the size of the CUMFIX file. Fixes U8A2230 and U8A2241 solve this problem. Some SMS sites get allocation errors after applying these fixes. Fix U8A2246 solves the SMA problems. Unfortunately, users experiencing this problem can not RECEIVE these fixes. To circumvent this problem, a special CUMFIX file containing only fixes U8A2230, U8A2241, U8A2246 and U8A2254 has been built. If you are getting the return code 99 popup shown as a result of abend B37, download this special CUMFIX file, RECEIVE the three fixes and apply them. After applying these fixes you must EXIT and RESTART the MAINT dialog to successfully RECEIVE the normal 8A cumulative fix file. If you are getting SMS errors running the MAINT command after applying U8A2230 and U8A2241, you need to apply fix U8A2246. Then EXIT and RESTART the MAINT dialog. If you are getting "IGD301I DATA SET ALLOCATION REQUEST FAILED" after applying U8A2230, U8a2241 and U8A2246, you need to apply U8A2254. Then EXIT and RESTART the MAINT dialog.
Click here to download the special cumulative fix file via your web browser. Click here for FTP download instructions. IOF Spin LevelsThe IOF distribution MPI file is periodically refreshed to a new spin level. A spin level consists of the previous level with additional maintenance applied. A spin level is identified by the julian date on which it was built, so the higher the number the more maintenance that has been applied. IOF fixes that are applied to a spin level are included in the IOF UPDATES data set. They are marked as "applied" by user "IOFSPIN". This allows the IOF maintenance dialog to accurately display the status of all applied maintenance. Use the IOF Maintenance Dialog to display the fix status or your system. To determine your IOF spin level:
