IOF
Optional
Fixes

Last updated: Tuesday, 06-Nov-2001 10:41:52 EST

IOF optional fixes are changes to the product that cause IOF to function differently from the standard, documented way. Optional fixes are implemented as source changes to one or more of the IOF libraries, and as superzap patches to the IOF load modules.

An optional fix should never be applied until the IOF installer at a site reads and understands the option description. Many optional fixes have been specifically designed to solve specific problems at a few sites, and are not necessarily applicable at other sites. Be sure you understand what an optional fix does before applying it.

Beginning with Release 7G, some optional fixes are being included in the cumulative maintenance file. Because optional fixes should never be applied automatically, the maintenance dialog does not list them on the Updates Data Set Member List. Special actions are required in order to see and apply optional fixes.

The "OPT" command causes the maintenance dialog to swap between normal fixes and optional fixes.

After entering the "OPT" command, the list of optional fixes is displayed. Entering "OPT" again swaps back to the list of normal fixes.

Note that the optional fixes listed have been "received" but not "applied". Most optional fixes should not be applied at most sites.

Enter the "B" line command for a fix to browse the fix and read the description. For example, if you browse fix T7F9009, the following screen will be displayed.

 BROWSE IOF.IOFT7G0.UPDATES(T7G9009) - 01.00 Line 00000000 Col 001 080

* When the ISPF RETURN command is issued from an application that
* was initiated via an IOF command that specified NEWAPPL, control
* returns to the ISPF option menu, bypassing IOF. This optional
* fix causes control to return to IOF; but disables the ISPF JUMP (=)
* feature. The IOF EDIT command, and the TEXTREF command interfacing
* to QUICKREF are two examples of linking to a NEWAPPL.
*
* THIS IS AN OPTIONAL FIX. Note that the ISPF JUMP feature is
* disabled from EDIT and QUICKREF applications by this fix.

Use the "S" line command to select a fix to be applied. A popup window will be displayed asking you to confirm that you really do want to apply the optional fix. Be sure you know what an optional fix does before applying it

There may be additional optional fixes available which are not included in the cumulative fixes file. Email IOF Technical Support or call us at (919) 544-0090 to check the availability of any other optional fixes.
