The SORT field on the release 7 Option Menu named a sort algorithm, not a sort field. Algorithm names were things like INVNULL, NULL, etc. The SORT on the menu could be saved in the user's profile if you enter SAVEPROF.

In release 8, SORT on fields on a panel are remembered in the profile. Each panel has it's own sort field. I suggest entering SORT with no parms to see a menu of the most common sorts.

In addition, HELP for each panel shows the current SORT value for that panel.
